Tuesday night course in Basic Cabinet Making taught by Peter Kuh. This course will introduce you to the use and maintenance of a range of cabinetmaking tools and joinery techniques. You will start with a session about the properties of solid timber and manmade boards and the way in which commonly used joints respond to the nature of the materials. The project for the course will be a small toolbox, based on a traditional American toolbox, big enough for a basic set of hand woodworking tools (materials for the box are included in the course fee, but not tools!).  We will teach you how to build a range of joints which will be useful in various future furniture and DIY projects. The course is suitable for all skills levels. 6.30pm to 9.30pm. There is a week's break for half-term on this course.

Spring 2018 Furniture Restore/Reupholster Thursday evening

Start Date Finish Date Capacity Location Price
11 Jan 18 29 Mar 18 5 of 8 School of stuff studio 475.00

12 week project based furniture restoration, reupholstery, remaking, revamping or reconfiguring session, 6.30pm to 9.30pm, taught by Amanda Girling-Budd. You can learn traditional restoration skills in this class, or learn how to revamp or upcycle a piece of furniture, antique or modern. Or, if you are really adventurous, make new furniture from recycled old furniture.  The course is project based, so you will need to bring something, but it would be good to discuss it first.  Email us: stuff@theschoolofstuff.co.uk.  The term fee includes some materials. The workshop is equipped for pretty much anything you want to do with wood and upholstery, but other materials such as metal or plastic might be trickier, so we should discuss what you want to do before you sign up. There is a week's break for half-term on this course.
