Cabinet Making

Cabinet making is another core subject.  Cabinet making doesn't necessarily mean making cabinets. It means the kind of skilled and accurate woodworking that you need to make furniture. We have two 12 week cabinetmaking evening classes.  Thursday evening: Basic Skills for beginners.  Wednesday evening:  Intermediate Skills for improvers. We also run intensive five day sessions from time to time.

Evening class

Cabinet making is more complex than carpentry or joinery in that it uses more elaborate joints and more precise ways of cutting and shaping, and hardwoods rather than softwoods.

The Basic Skills course on Tuesday nights will offer tuition in cutting and shaping wood, and the construction of joints.  The project for this class is a tulipwood toolbox.

On Wednesday nights we offer an Intermediate Skills class, which is for improvers, either those who have done the Basic Skills course, or who have already done some woodwork.  The project for this course is an attractive A frame stool or table in ash. Five day intensives

From time to time we put on short courses in cabinet making, over five consecutive days.  If we have one planned, it will be bookable here.
